What do you do? I currently work as a writer/performer on The Second City National Touring Company, touring all around the country with our sketch comedy show as well as performing at home in Chicago. I also work as a writer, developing my own TV/film projects, and I have appeared as an actor in TV/Film/Commercials. Also, I teach! I am an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University in their Comedy Filmmakers program and I work with corporate groups, using improv to help improve communication, team building, and change management.

How did the GNSS concentration shape your career? The GNSS concentration helped shape my critical thinking and opened up my creative mind. Every time I improvise, I am creating something that never existed before, which in many ways is what GNSS did for me—it helped me create my own point of view based not on the binaries taught to me, but on my actual experiences and the experiences of those around me. When writing, I don’t want to regurgitate what has already been said; the GNSS concentration has helped me think outside the box, challenge the status quo, and create stories inspired by how people push against the way they’ve been conditioned.
