Biography
Amelle Zeroug is a PhD student in the History department interested in the intersections of gender, violence, and national imagining in the 19th- and 20th-century French empire. Their current project employs oral histories with former female guerrilla fighters to examine how sexuality and sovereignty were constructed by French occupying forces and the FLN during the Algerian War for Independence. Prior to Brown, they received a B.A. in History from Washington University in St. Louis and studied at SOAS, University of London.
