Biography
Alexandra (Alex) Lehman
What do you do? I currently lead the reproductive rights, health, and justice policy portfolio at National Council of Jewish Women, a feminist civil rights organization. In this capacity, I advocate for abortion access and gender equity through federal legislation, strategic litigation, and community mobilization.
How did the GNSS concentration shape your career? My GNSS courses—coupled with my academic research on gender-based violence, my leadership and volunteering at the Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, and my relevant lobbying efforts at the RI State House—equipped me with a robust intellectual foundation and myriad tools for pursuing this work. As a GNSS concentrator, I relished grappling with innovative theory and ideas among incredible professors and peers. Buoyed by this learning, I now welcome the opportunity to translate my conviction in the possibility of true reproductive freedom into policy and praxis.
