Joan MacLeod Heminway ’83

Biography

As a former (15-year) practitioner in transactional corporate and securities law,  Joan teaches law students the basics of business associations, corporate finance, securities regulation, and contract drafting. She conducts research and publishes written work in the same areas, with an emphasis on disclosure law and policy. She infuses this teaching with leadership principles and processes, and in her role as Interim Director of the University of Tennessee College of Law's Institute for Professional Leadership, she helps to manage a curriculum that offers basic and advanced instruction on leadership traits, roles, and methods.
