Ellen McCallum ’89

Biography

Ellen McCallum is Professor of English at Michigan State. Her areas of interest are critical theory, film studies, queer theory, feminist studies, LGBTQ studies, and American literature. Her most recent monograph is Unmaking the Making of Americans: Toward an Aesthetic Ontology (SUNY 2018).  Her co-edited volumes include After Queer Studies: Literature, Theory, and Sexuality in the 21st Century (Cambridge, 2019), as well as The Cambridge History of Gay and Lesbian Literature (2013) and Queer Times, Queer Becomings (SUNY, 2011).

McCallum earned an A.B. in French and Francophone Studies from Brown University.
